Hurricane Harvey & Irma: Six Ways to Help

adapted from Tamara Plummer of Episcopal Relief and Development

  1. Donate to Episcopal Relief & Development’s Hurricane Harvey Response Fund or to their Hurricane Relief Fund to support impacted dioceses as they meet the needs of their most vulnerable neighbors after this event. (Please include your parish name and “Diocese of CNY” in the comments or on the memo line of your check)
  2. Please don’t send food, clothing or other items! Donations such as these can actually become more of a burden on the local diocesan leaders than a benefit. The most efficient option is supporting the local economy to respond.
  3. Sign up on Episcopal Relief & Development’s Ready to Serve page to register as a possible volunteer in the future. These are the lists Episcopal Relief & Development staff share with dioceses when they are ready to recruit external volunteers.
  4. Read Episcopal Relief & Development Director Rob Radtke’s blog post on best response practices.
  5. Pray! for all those affected by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Maria and Jose.
  6. Share these bulletin inserts in your worship services.
