Parish Administrators meet for P.E.A.C.E Day

On Wednesday, October 25th, parish administrators, church secretaries and other wonderful men and women who keep congregations organized and moving day-to-day, gathered at Christ Church, Manlius for our Diocese’s bi-annual Parish Executive Assistant Communication Exchange.

This casual gathering was organized by Kathleen McDaniel, Executive Assistant to the Bishop and was opened with prayer, and words of encouragement and vision from Bishop DeDe, for the work that the parish administrators do as a ministry for their congregations.

After opening comments from Bishop DeDe, the group enjoyed a presentation by Rev. Canon Carrie Schofield-Broadbent on conflict resolution. Topics covered included styles of conflicts (including fun animal pictures!), what it means to “Rise Strong”, and levels of conflict.

We also had the pleasure of meeting with Joan Green, volunteer archivist for the Diocese, who gave the participants some pointers regarding parish records, and what and how records need to be kept.

After a yummy lunch from Panera, it was time for group discussions. Conversations were had on multiple issues such a social media, bringing people in to the church, advertising, financial donations, how to deal with issues that arise on the job, and much more. It was a great opportunity to share knowledge to help improve the work done at each parish. We’re appreciative of all who participated, and we all look forward to the next P.E.A.C.E Day!
