Host a “Souper Bowl” this winter!

St. Paul’s Church in Endicott is one of many parishes in the diocese hosting a “Souper Bowl of Caring” leading up to the Super Bowl. “For several years now,” says parishioner Jennifer Westermann, “we set up a table in the back of the church divided into three sections:  the two contenders and our own church.  People “vote” for their team, or for their church if they don’t care about football, with a can of soup.” Folks can also support their favorite with a cash donation.

All donations and proceeds go to a local food pantry.

St. Paul’s in Waterloo will be participating as well. This is a terrific idea; thanks for passing it along. We have encouraged the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts who meet in our parish hall to participate also – we will have to see if the Scouts or the parish members are better at predicting the outcome of the Super Bowl (and who can bring in the most soup for our local food bank).
