Transition Ministry Updates (Winter 2020)

The people of the Diocese of Central New York celebrate the following clergy calls and transitions:

Clergy New to the Diocese

Grace Episcopal Church in Elmira has called the Rev. Jennifer Marie Scott to serve as priest-in-charge beginning February 10, 2020.

Jenny is originally from eastern Pennsylvania. She was raised in a large Presbyterian church and is especially grateful for their youth program. After college, Jenny was involved in Christian ministry in New Zealand with Creation Care Study Program and in India with Servants to Asia’s Urban Poor.

She then felt the need for more theological education, which led her to Canada where she could continue working with Servants but also continue her education. She earned her M.Div from Regent College in Vancouver.

While in Vancouver for 5 years, Jenny was an active lay member of a special Anglo-Catholic parish. This was her introduction to the Anglican tradition and she quickly felt like she had come home. After Vancouver, Jenny then served in an Episcopal Church in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for two years before hitting the road once again, this time to Sewanee, Tennessee for a year of Anglican Studies. At the University of the South she received a Masters of Sacred Theology and wrote a thesis on the importance of placedness for the local parish. Most recently, Jenny served as an associate priest at St. Thomas the Apostle in Houston, Texas. Jenny is passionate about empowering discipleship, ministry collaboration, thoughtful liturgy, and community engagement.

Jenny is engaged to be married to The Rev. Arthur Jones who serves three parishes in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. Jenny loves being outdoors – running, hiking, or simply relaxing with a good book. Jenny is excited to return to the northeast to be closer to her family, experience the proper four season, and to serve the amazing community of Elmira, NY.
