The people of the Diocese of Central New York celebrate the following clergy calls and transitions:

Clergy New to the Diocese

The Rev. Dr. Katrina Grusell will begin as Interim Rector of Christ Episcopal Church in Binghamton in September.

Christ Episcopal Church in Binghamton has called the Rev. Dr. Katrina L. Grusell as Interim Rector beginning September 16, 2022. Mother Katrina moved from her native Massachusetts to Ellicott City, Maryland in 1993.

A 1999 graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary, during her time in the Diocese of Maryland, she has served as Parish Coordinator at Christ Church, Columbia; Assistant to the Rectors and Day School Chaplain at St. Martin’s-in-the-Field, Severna Park; and Rector at Church of the Holy Apostles in Arbutus. Mother Katrina currently serves as Associate Rector for Pastoral Care at St. John’s, Ellicott City and the Episcopal Chaplain at UMBC, supporting college students on their faith journeys and working to end food insecurity on campus. Within the Diocese of Maryland, she serves on the Congregational Vitality Committee.

With a B.S. in psychology and training at the Center for Family Process, she has spent much of her twenty-three years in ordained ministry working with individuals and congregations through the lens of family systems theory. Her doctoral studies at Drew University concentrated in worship, spirituality, and preaching using narrative theology to navigate congregational transitions in a post-modern context. Mother Katrina is also trainer for the College for Congregational Development. She looks forward to living in a small city again and ministering among the people of Christ Church. A basketball season ticket holder at UMBC, she looks forward to more America East Conference basketball at Binghamton University. Her husband, David, will continue to reside in their Ellicott City home. They have two children and two grandchildren.
