Disciplinary Board (three-year term)

The Rev. Deacon Shelly Banner

Shelly is a bi-vocational Deacon, living in Oswego with her husband Leon Carapetyan, approaching her tenth anniversary of ordination, which happened at Diocesan Convention.

She has served the parish of St. John’s, Marcellus, then Church of the Resurrection, Oswego, and is currently serving at St. Matthew’s Liverpool. Beyond parish functions, which include both liturgical and outreach activities, she also serves on the Diocesan Interim/Transitional Ministry team for parishes, sit as an at-large member of the Commission on Ministry, and did serve as an alternate delegate for the 78th General Convention in Salt Lake City in 2015. She has a passion for looking closely at structure and systems and how they function and interface and believes that helping others to understand how each component in a given system functions can actually lead toward both creating innovative ideas and building strength in a structure.
