Database and Payroll Specialist

Objective

Provides essential administrative support, focused on database maintenance and payroll processing services, to maintain the operations of the Diocese of Central New York and its parishes.

Position Type

  • The successful candidate will have the opportunity to design their schedule in cooperation with the supervisor, provided that deadlines are met.
  • Most duties can be carried out remotely; duties that require an in-person/onsite presence at the diocesan office are indicated below and are adaptable for the right candidate. The candidate must reside within the boundaries of the Diocese.

Preference will be given to candidates who exhibit:

  • Data entry and database management experience
  • Payroll processing experience
  • Knowledge and experience of The Episcopal Church

Areas of Responsibility

Payroll and accounting support

  • Collect and distribute mail weekly (requires in-person/onsite presence)
  • Follow established procedures to prepare weekly deposit (requires in-person/onsite presence)
  • Assist Controller with data entry in accounting system
  • Process parish payrolls on assigned schedule; troubleshoot payroll issues; assist with payroll setup.

Data entry and database management

  • Follow established procedures to ensure all records in diocesan database (Little Green Light) are updated accurately and timely, including, but not limited to:
    • Gift entry and preparation of acknowledgment letters (printing/mailing requires onsite presence)
    • Track events: invitations, RSVPs, and event attendance
    • Maintain contact information
    • Maintain clergy transition records
  • Generate regular and custom reports
  • Create and update forms

Administrative support and other duties as assigned

  • Assist in preparation of Parish-Clergy Letters of Agreement
  • Assist in maintenance of electronic and paper files
  • Attend staff meetings occasionally as requested; participate in staff development days
  • Provide in-person or remote support for diocesan events as requested
  • Other duties as assigned

Compensation

Compensation package includes cash compensation of $24 per hour and paid sick leave and statutory benefits in accordance with New York State and denominational requirements.
