A Candlelight Festival of Lessons and Carols will be offered free to the community on December 8 at 4:00 at St. James’ Episcopal Church in Skaneateles, featuring a 40 voice choir from the combined choirs of St. James’, St. Luke’s (Camillus), St. John’s (Marcellus) and Ss. Peter & John (Auburn). The 1 hour presentation will begin with a candlelight procession with handbells. Readings from scripture pertaining to the coming of Christ and the Christmas story will be read by young people from the four churches. In between each of the nine readings (Lessons) will be music sung by the choir or carols sung by the congregation. The presentation is modeled on the Festival of Lessons and Carols at King’s College, Cambridge every Christmas Day since 1913.
A reception funded by the thrift shop of St. James’ Episcopal Church will follow the one-hour event.
