College for Congregational Development

April 1, 2022, 5:30 pmApril 2, 2022, 6:00 pm

The College for Congregational Development is an intensive and fun community learning experience for lay and clergy leaders. We’re pleased to partner with our neighboring Diocese of Rochester for this offering.

In 2021, pandemic permitting, the College will be offered in two formats:

Weeklong Intensive—July 18-24, 2021, starting Sunday at 3:00 p.m., concluding Saturday at noon (This Weeklong will be “Year B” curriculum, the material we were planning to offer last summer in 2020)

-or-

Four Weekends—September 24-25, 2021; November 19-20, 2021; February 25-26, 2022; and April 1-2, 2022; starting Friday at 5:30 p..m., concluding Saturday at 6:oo p.m. (These Weekends will be “Year A” curriculum, which we last offered on the Weeklong and Weekends in 2019)

Please note: The College is a two-year curriculum, Year A and Year B. The years can be completed in either order. In 2021, we will offer Year B during the Weeklong and Year A during the Weekends.

All sessions are held at Notre Dame Retreat House in Canandaigua, NY.

Tuition/Room & Board is $900.

What about the pandemic? The plan is to hold the weeklong intensive (July 18th-24th) in-person. CCD leaders will assess  by mid-August about holding the Fall 2021/Spring 2022 weekends in-person.

After listening carefully to guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and New York State, and conferring with Notre Dame Retreat House and the bishops in Rochester and Central New York, here is our current plan for the College weeklong (July 18th-24th):

  1. In order to best protect everyone’s health, we will require all participants and trainers to be fully vaccinated prior to attending.
  2. We will follow the masking guidance that makes sense as we get closer to the week. At this point, that might mean that masks would be required when we’re moving around the building but not when we’re in plenary and small group sessions. We’ll develop and communicate final guidelines closer to the week, taking into account the latest conditions.
  3. We are limiting attendance to thirty participants and six trainers. This will mean that we can spread out in the sleeping rooms. Everyone will have their own room, most with an individual bathroom. A few folks will have a toilet and sink in their room, and a dedicated shower stall in a common shower room down the hall. It will also mean that we can practice physical distancing in the meeting rooms, though probably not a full six feet in all instances.

You are welcome to speak to the Rev. Paul Frolick about these guidelines, and to share your questions and concerns. Leaders will continue to listen carefully to guidance and will make and communicate adjustments as appropriate.

Registration is easy, simply e-mail the Rev. Paul Frolick with your name, parish and location, and format preference (weeklong or weekends).
