Youth pilgrimage to El Salvador

July 17July 24

$1,200

“It made me want to stand for something, for people, to lead communities of faith and teach the gospel.”

—past pilgrim Pilar Padrón speaks to Episcopal News Service about the youth pilgrimage to El Salvador.

The Rev. Deacon Chuck Stewart and the Rev. Jeanne Hansknecht invite youth in grades 8-12 and college-age young adults to accompany them in pilgrimage to our Companion Diocese of El Salvador this July.

This eye-opening journey may change your life forever.

  • Build relationships with peers across culture, language, and class difference;
  • Take a crash course in the Salvadoran civil war, liberation theology, poverty, health care, economics and education;
  • Spend some hours in craft projects with little kids—they never have experiences like this.
  • Go to the beach and the mountains.

Cost

Thanks to funding from the Diocese of Central New York, the cost to each pilgrim is $450, plus airfare (generally about $800).

Pilgrims work on a craft project with young children in the Diocese of El Salvador.
