CNY EpiscoPride 2023 Details

When?

Saturday, June 10, 2023

Ecumenical Eucharist: 10 a.m.
We’re excited to be partnering with our friends in the Upstate New York Synod of the ELCA for Pride Eucharist! Bishop Lee Miller II will preach and preside and all are welcome to join us!

Parade: 11 a.m.

What about the air?

The news about the air is trending positively! Weather reports regarding wind and the effects of the smoke indicate that the air quality should continue to improve between today and tomorrow. We have spoken with the CNY Pride organizers .who in turn are working with county health officials. All signs point to a go for CNY Pride this Saturday!

However, your health and wellbeing are our primary concerns. If you are planning to attend Pride on Saturday, we encourage you to wear a mask. (You could even bedazzle it, if you’d like!) If for whatever reason you are more vulnerable to the effects of the air quality, we hope that you will stay indoors. You can still join our Pride Eucharist online on our Facebook page. We know that you may be disappointed to miss out on being on site, but remember that onsite or online, live or on replay, it’s all in-person, it’s all connection, and it’s all holy.

Where?

We’ll meet in the parade staging area at the Destiny USA parking lot near Solar Street in Syracuse. The Eucharist will take place in this area. You’ll see a HUGE group of parade walkers preparing for the parade; you can’t miss it! If you can’t join us in Syracuse on that day, we’ll be streaming the Pride Eucharist on our Facebook page so that you can celebrate with us.

Who?

Individuals and families of all ages! Episcopalians and non Episcopalians! Friends and neighbors!

How can I help?

Thanks for asking! We have volunteer opportunities listed in our online sign up form and on social media. You can also email us at
communications@cnyepiscopal.org and let us know you’d like to help!

What about the weather?

Great question! We know it was HOT last year, but this year it’s looking quite lovely! Regardless, we’ll have LOTS of water and a tent to provide shade at the staging site. We recommend bringing an umbrella in case of rain or extreme heat. We’ll have sugary snacks on hand if you need a quick burst of sugar or energy. Also, remember that you are more than welcome to come for the Eucharist even if you do not feel comfortable or confident enough to walk the parade route.

Gay5K

For the first time this year, we’re proud to be a sponsor of the Gay5K! The 2023 CNY Gay 5K is a community-run, family-friendly event designed to celebrate our Central New York community and raise funds for Sage Upstate! SAGE Upstate promotes the well-being of older gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning people in CNY through health programs, socials, support groups, & education.

The 2023 CNY Gay 5K will be Saturday, June 17th at 9 a.m. at Long Branch Park in Liverpool. You can also participate in the Virtual Gay 5K!

you-are-loved

The Episcopal Church welcomes you, and everyone you love.

Love one another, for love is from God. (1 John 4:7)

Why Pride?

In the words of our bishop, the Rt. Rev. Dr. DeDe Duncan-Probe, “LGBTQ people are God’s beloved, made in the image of God, and are our beloved neighbors, friends, clergy and lay leaders of The Episcopal Church.”

Episcopalians in Central New York celebrate Pride because we believe in a God of love who created us to love one another. Period.

What we believe

We Episcopalians believe in a loving, liberating, and life-giving God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As constituent members of the Anglican Communion in the United States, we are descendants of and partners with the Church of England and the Scottish Episcopal Church, and are part of the third largest group of Christians in the world.

We believe in following the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the world.

We have a legacy of inclusion, aspiring to tell and exemplify God’s love for every human being; women and men serve as bishops, priests, and deacons in our church. Laypeople and clergy cooperate as leaders at all levels of our church. Leadership is a gift from God, and can be expressed by all people in our church, regardless of sexual identity or orientation.

We believe that God loves you – no exceptions.
