By now, we have encountered unprecedented events so often, the unprecedented is beginning to feel precedented.  Yet again, the institutions we have relied on for safety and stability shifting under our feet, and the public leaders who have been entrusted with our common good, seeking mostly their own profit, leaving the vulnerable scattered in their wake.

As Christians, we have dealt with times like these before.  Our tradition offers us a variety of faithful responses to a world increasingly at odds with God’s dream for humanity.  For some of us, building communities of support and care is our call. For others of us, educating ourselves on how we got here and how we can change is where we find our place.  And for others, our call is to embody resistance to the way the world is, in ways large and small, in order to build the world God desires.

As you are discerning how you are called to respond in this time, I want to let you know about several responses the diocese is assembling.  Many of you already participate in STILL (Standing Together in Light and Love).  STILL is a fantastic opportunity to come together for community, safety, and fellowship with others in this time, and if you are not involved, I urge you to contact its leadership: the Rev. Joanna Benskin, the Rev. Lisa Busby, Dr. Marian Thompson, and Karen Anderson for more information. 

Alongside STILL,  we are also launching a new group: Stand CNY.  Stand CNY is for those feeling called to active resistance and advocacy in these times.  Whether you have been politically active in this way before, or whether this is new for you, this group would love to have you with us.  Stand CNY will be sharing resources and meeting together periodically to support and encourage each other as we work together to embody the Good News of the Gospel in a badly broken world.  If you would like more information, please contact Canon Rev.
