CNY EpiscoPride 2024 Details

When?

Saturday, June 22, 2024

Ecumenical Eucharist: 10 a.m.
We’re excited to be partnering with our friends in the Upstate New York Synod of the ELCA for Pride Eucharist! Bishop Lee Miller II will preach and preside and all are welcome to join us!

Parade: 11 a.m.

Where?

We’ll meet in the parade staging area at the Destiny USA parking lot near Solar Street in Syracuse. The Eucharist will take place in this area. You’ll see a HUGE group of parade walkers preparing for the parade; you can’t miss it! If you can’t join us in Syracuse on that day, we’ll be streaming the Pride Eucharist on our Facebook page so that you can celebrate with us. Please note that this is a little different that last year as we will be meeting across Solar St from where we have in years past.

Who?

Individuals and families of all ages! Episcopalians and non Episcopalians! Friends and neighbors!

What about the parade?

If you are interested in marching in this year’s parade: GREAT! We’re excited to have you join us. Click here for some important info from the CNY Pride organizers that they want all parade participants to know.

How can I help?

Thanks for asking! We’ll have volunteer opportunities listed soon. You can also email Adam and let us know you’d like to help!

What about the weather?

Great question! We’ve had hot years, rainy years, and perfect years. We’ll have water and a tent to provide shade at the staging site. We recommend bringing an umbrella in case of rain or extreme heat. We’ll have sugary snacks on hand if you need a quick burst of sugar or energy. Also, remember that you are more than welcome to come for the Eucharist even if you do not feel comfortable or confident enough to walk the parade route.

you-are-loved

The Episcopal Church welcomes you, and everyone you love.

Love one another, for love is from God. (1 John 4:7)

Why Pride?

In the words of our bishop, the Rt. Rev. Dr. DeDe Duncan-Probe, “LGBTQ people are God’s beloved, made in the image of God, and are our beloved neighbors, friends, clergy and lay leaders of The Episcopal Church.”

Episcopalians in Central New York celebrate Pride because we believe in a God of love who created us to love one another. Period.

What we believe

We Episcopalians believe in a loving, liberating, and life-giving God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As constituent members of the Anglican Communion in the United States, we are descendants of and partners with the Church of England and the Scottish Episcopal Church, and are part of the third largest group of Christians in the world.

We believe in following the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the world.

We have a legacy of inclusion, aspiring to tell and exemplify God’s love for every human being; women and men serve as bishops, priests, and deacons in our church. Laypeople and clergy cooperate as leaders at all levels of our church. Leadership is a gift from God, and can be expressed by all people in our church, regardless of sexual identity or orientation.

We believe that God loves you – no exceptions.
