A Joyful Noise: The Piano Man Plays On

In our Year of Joy and the lead up to our 156th Convention, “A Joyful Noise: Celebrating the Work of God,” we’re sharing music and songs that bring joy to people in our diocese along with brief descriptions of why the songs matter to them. Join the fun! You can send your songs and stories to communications@cnyepiscopal.org. Don’t want to share a story? That’s fine, too! Just share your song(s) and we’ll add them to our already-very-eclectic playlist on Spotify!

Today’s contributor is Rev. Naomi S. Sorrwar-Randall

Both of the songs I’d like to contribute are by Billy Joel. He’s my favorite solo artist/singer/songwriter. He tells a story in every song. His music and story telling always makes me smile!

Summer, Highland Falls – Billy Joel

I’ve loved the song “Summer, Highland Falls” from the moment I first heard. The piano work and the melody are, in my opinion, superb!

Turn the Lights Back On – Billy Joel

The second song I’d like to contribute is a song that Billy released earlier this year and that he played at the Grammy awards. “Turn the Lights Back On” is the first new song from him in 17 years and it sounds like classic Billy.
