In memory of the Feast Day of St Francis who is remembered in part for his love of and special relationship with animals, the Church often offers the Blessing of the Animals. This year the Episcopal Churches of Chemung County (Emmanuel, Grace, and St. Matthew’s) are bringing the blessings to the wider community at the Octagon Fair on the Elmira College campus—1 Park Place, Elmira on Saturday, October 1st from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Bring your fur-family members on leash or in a crate and we will offer special prayers — asking that their lives be blessed as they continue to bless our lives. If your animal is a bit shy and doesn’t like a crowd, bring a picture (even on your cell phone) and we will offer a virtual blessing. All stuffed animal toys are also welcome to come for a blessing.

All blessed pets will receive a small memorabilia.

We accept donations to the Chemung County Humane Society & SPCA.
