This pastoral care training, offered through the diocese and taught by seminary professor Dr. April Stace, is designed to equip lay and ordained people with practical skills for accompanying others with compassion, confidence, and healthy boundaries. Participants will explore the foundations of pastoral presence, deep listening, responding to difficult situations, recognizing the limits of our role, and knowing when and how to connect someone with additional support.

Whether you already serve in a formal pastoral care ministry or simply want to become more comfortable showing up for people when life gets hard, this training will offer concrete tools and opportunities to practice. No previous pastoral care experience is necessary—just a willingness to listen, learn, and be present.
