Transition Ministry Updates (Fall 2018)

The people of the Diocese of Central New York celebrate the following clergy calls and transitions:

Clergy New to the Diocese

The. Rev. J. Brad Benson has been called to serve as rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in Seneca Falls beginning September 16, 2018.

Benson recently retired after serving over thirteen years as rector of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath, NY (Diocese of Rochester). No stranger to our diocese, he spent twenty-three years on the staff of Syracuse University prior to his ordination, and was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Syracuse. Benson comes to Trinity with substantial experience in outreach and community building, liturgical leadership of all kinds, stewardship development, communications, capital campaign direction, and interim ministry. He is married to Dr. Carl Johengen, director of the Sanctuary Choir at Asbury First United Methodist Church in Rochester, and the two will reside in Seneca Falls.

Calls Within the Diocese

The Rev. Nelson Gaetz (ELCA) is serving as interim rector at the Church of St. Mark the Evangelist in Syracuse as of September 16, 2018.
