Bishop Duncan-Probe joins faith leaders calling for transition off fossil fuels

On Monday, April 19th, Bishop DeDe Duncan-Probe participated in a press conference organized by the group Climate Change Awareness & Action. She and other leaders, including Cornell University Professor and climate scientist Robert Howarth, and Oren Lyons, member of the Onondaga Nation spoke on the importance of moving away from our dependence on fossil fuels.

The Bishop spoke specifically to the importance of faith communities being involved in environmental activism:

“It is clear that when climate change occurs and is occurring in this world, that people of color, of poverty,  people who do not have the power over their environment are often the first to suffer the tragic consequences.  As people of faith, it is essential that we not only speak out, but that we take measures to be part of the solution.”
